Special Mobility Strand at Silesian University of Technology

The implementation of the Erasmus+ Smart Transport and Logistics for Cities project continues. Despite the difficult conditions and the approach of the official deadline for project implementation, October 14, 2021, associate professors of Transport Systems and Logistics National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv O.M. Beketov Maria Olkhova and Roslavtsev Dmytro and associate professors of Transport Technologies National University “Lviv Polytechnic” Mykola Zhuk and Volodymyr Kovalyshyn managed to implement mobility at Silesian University of Technology, Katowice, Poland.

During the visit they took part in trainings on:

– current teaching methods and techniques,

– acquaintance with the laboratory base of Silesian University of Technology,

– problems and ways to solve them during the organization of distance learning,

– development of internationalization strategy at the university,

– quality assurance system of the educational process.

Also during the meetings the issues of peculiarities of the organization of training in the conditions of pandemic, questions of further cooperation, in particular introduction of the double diploma are discussed. And, of course, there was a cultural exchange of existing values ​​and achievements of neighboring states.

Special thanks to Professor Aleksander Sladkowski and Professor Robert Wieszała for organizing the mobility and training.

WP 4.5 – The 2nd Annual Training Seminar on SmaLog issues

On 30-th – 21st July 2018 at Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ukraine held 2nd Annual Training Seminar on SmaLog issues (WP 4.5), which is carried out as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 program.

According to the working plan of the Smalog, it is planned to hold a Second Annual Training Seminar on SmaLog issues at Lviv Polytechnic National University (Ukraine).

The main goal of the meeting:

To provide UA/GE lecturers (teachers) of SmaLog with a common basis on the analysis and modeling of transportation systems according to the outcomes of SmaLog. Lectures are given by professors from EU partner institutions. EU teachers, for each lesson given, will provide reading materials in English.

 

Participants listened Modules according to SmaLog Program by leading Professors from EU countries:

WP 10.2 Coordination Meetings of the PMC (4th)

On 8th – 10th May 2019 at Sapienza University (Rome, Italy) held 4th PMC Coordination Meeting, which is carried out as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 program.

The topic of the meeting was the issues:

  • Curricula development and implementation at SmaLog HEIs.
  • Theoretical fundamentals of PhD Programme in SmaLog.
  • System of UA/GE University of SmaLog teachers’ skills upgrading.
  • Methodical, Organizational and technical support of Smalog students’ training.
  • Pilot Smalog students’s training.
  • International Quality Assurance System.
  • Project Quality Control and Monitoring.
  • Dissemination and Exploitation activities of the Project.
  • SmaLog Management.
  • Special Mobility Strand for Staff.
  • Special Mobility Strand for Students.

 Smalog at the III Ukrainian Scientific and Teoretical Conference “Problems with traffic flow and directions of their solving”

Associate Professor Mykola Zhuk informed the participants with the European approaches of the Master`s preparation in the framework of the Erasmus + Smalog project “Master in Smart Transport and Logistics for Cities”.

 


Teachers from UA & GE Universities within the framework of the «SmaLog» project have been trained in Italy

From November 19 to November 30, 2018, the teachers from UA & GE Universities were trained according to the SmaLog project at Roma, University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy).

According to the internship program, the staff have increased their knowledge and skills:

  • Transport simulation by the software “PTV VISUM”.
  • Bus network service and operations planning.
  • Principles and practice of forecasting: time series analysis; artificial neural networks; applied predictive modelling.
  • Urban goods movement: overview, measures and plans.
  • Urban freight transport modelling: quantity, delivery and vehicle O/D matrices.
  • Logistic costs and mode choice.
  • Transport and land use interaction: models and practical applications.
  • Practical applications on transportation demand and supply-demand interaction.
  • Practical applications on urban goods demand.
  • Applied time series analysis and forecasting with R.
  • Practical application of cost- benefit and financial analysis of intermodal freight nodes.

According to the results of the internship, the University’s staff received the corresponding certificates.


Teachers from UA&GE Universities within the framework of the «SmaLog» project have been trained at Sapienza University (Italy)

The internship of Ukrainian and Georgian teachers at Sapienza University ended.

Participants received new knowledge and skills that will be used in the development of syllabuses for the disciplines of the master’s program “SmaLog”.

Participants are grateful:
▪️Prof. Andrea Campagna – for provided the opportunity to attend his lectures “Freight Transport and Logistics”, conducted seminar “City logistics and applications” and shared his experience in the definition of “The logistics sustainability index”.
▪️Prof. Paolo Delle Site – for holding a seminar on “Sustainable mobility and assessment of interventions on the transportation system”
▪️Loris Mezzavilla – for conducting a workshop on “OD freight matrices”.
▪️Ing. Eleonora Meta and Anastasia Azarko – for the continued support of the participants of the internship on all issues.
▪️Director Center for Transport and Logistics, Prof. Luca Persia – for organizing and coordinating the internship of the UA & GE teachers at Sapienza University.

Two weeks were productive and full of information!


 Teachers from UA&GE Universities within the framework of the «SmaLog» project have been trained in Germany

29th October – 9th November 2018
 

From October 29 to November 9, 2018, the teachers from UA&GE Universities were trained according to the SmaLog project at Hochschule Wismar University of Applied Sciences: Technology, Businessand Design (Germany).

According to the internship program, the staff of UA&GE Universities took part in the following events:

  • listened to lectures on mobility and logistics, and also attended the seminar «Mobility in Rural Areas»;
  • acquainted with the work of the Department of Distance Education at Wismar University(WINGS limited);
  • visited Maritime Simulation Centre;
  • met with:
    • Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Wismar University;
    • the city leadership of Wismar Town and employees of the Mobility and Logistics Division;
    • companies and organizations working in the field of mobility and logistics (FleetMon, Logistic Initiative Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Hamburger Hafen und Kogistig AG).

The training occurred under the direct guide of the director of Robert-Schmidt-Institut of Wismar University, of Professor Norbert Gruenwald. According to the results of the internship, the University’s staff received the corresponding certificates.

The main goal of the meeting:

  • Presentation Master Program in SmaLog UA & GE partners;
  • To discuss the main issues of work packages: WP2: EU UA-GE Joint Master Programme in SmaLog; WP3: Theoretical fundamentals of PhD Programme in SmaLog; WP6: Pilot SmaLog students’ training; WP4: System of UA&GE University of SmaLog teachers‘ skills upgrading; WP7: International Quality Assurance System; WP5: Methodical, Organizational and technical support of SmaLog students‘ training; WP8: Project Quality Control and Monitoring; WP9: Dissemination and Exploitation activities of the project; WP10: Management activities of the project;
  • Special Mobility Strand;WG 2 – Improvement of study infrastructures at Partner Country Universities, including dissemination and exploitation; WG3 – Development of International Quality Assurance System.

On 13-th – 14th September 2018 at Batumi State Maritime Academy in Batumi, Georgia held 1st Annual Training Seminar on SmaLog issues (WP 4.5), which is carried out as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 program.

Participants listened Modules according to SmaLog Program by leading Professors from EU countries:

  • Model Applications and Transportation Systems Engineering: Some Areas of Application (e.g. Strategic Planning, Feasibility Studies, Tactical Planning, Operations Management Programs). Firsts Annual Training Seminar on SmaLog issues

The main goal of the meeting:

To provide UA/GE lecturers (teachers) of SmaLog with a common basis on the analysis and modeling of transportation systems according to the outcomes of SmaLog. Lectures are given by professors from EU partner institutions. EU teachers, for each lesson given, will provide reading materials in English.
